Two schools from the Peace Wapiti Public School Division placed in the top 25 in Alberta, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut for fundraising towards the Terry Fox Foundation.
The school division says that Whispering Ridge Community School ranked 10th in the Elementary Division, and Spirit River Regional Academy finished 13th in the Secondary Division.
Whispering Ridge School raised $11,480, while Spirit River Regional Academy raised $7,960. Across the division, the 20 participating schools combined for over $58,600 raised, during the 2025 Terry Fox Run.
Superintendent Shawn O’Shea says the dedication that PWPSD schools and communities show to the Terry Fox Foundation each year is inspiring.
“Highlighting Terry’s remarkable impact, and continuing his vision for cancer treatment, has always been embraced by our schools and communities. Thank you to the Terry Fox Foundation, and all who volunteer, participate, and donate to the cause.”
The school division has now raised over $1,000,000 towards the Terry Fox Foundation.
