McLennan RCMP looking for a pickup truck believed to be connected to fatal crash

McLennan RCMP are seeking the publics assistance in locating a Ford-F150, that is believed to be in connection to a investigation that left one dead.

RCMP say that between 1 p.m., and 2 p.m., on Feb. 18, a motor vehicle collision took place on Highway 49, south of Highway 676, in the MD of Smoky River.

Mounties say that during the investigation, they believe that a black Ford F150 overtook a semi-truck that was carrying lumber. When the pickup allegedly passed, police say the pickup was on track to collide head-on with a different semi-truck who was hauling a tanker full of petroleum.

Mounties say that the semi-truck with the tanker attempted to avoid the pick-up, resulting in the semi rolling over in the northbound ditch. The semi driver was later pronounced deceased as a result.

Police say that the pickup truck did not remain on scene, and are now looking for the driver.

RCMP say that the pickup is described as: a newer model of a black Ford F150, black rims, black soft rollup cover on the bed, and a silver trim on the grill, side vent covers, and side mirrors.

RCMP say anyone with information, or has dashcam footage from Highway 49, south of Highway 676, between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., are asked to contact the McLennan RCMP.
