Isabel Cambell has been awarded the Ryan Wagner Memorial Award for their dedication towards fundraising and sportsmanship.
The award was presented by the 3D Children’s Society on Dec. 5, the award was handed off to the school during an assembly.
According to one of the leads with the charity, Darren Foley, the annual award is handed out to a school in the Peace Region that raises money, shows sportsmanship, determination, and participation. Foley says it’s never an easy choice on which school to give the award too.
“It’s always a really tough decision to deicide, it’s not easy to pick a certain school that is the most deserving, because they are all deserving.”
The award was named after a local teenager who battled through illness each day of his 19 year life, and that it was an obvious decision to name an award after him, after he passed away, “He fought every day,” says Foley.
Principal of the school Mrs. Rawlyk, says she couldn’t be anymore proud of the work that the students have put in.
“I am thrilled, we have participated in the 3D charity tournament for years, it’s so significant for us to be able to give back to our community, and to be chosen and selected as a school that shows sportsmanship, participation and grit, it just means everything to our students.”
Students from across the region took part in the charities soccer, and ball hockey event earlier this year.
