Boil water advisory issued for Spirit River

A boil water advisory has been issued for all residents in Spirit River. Alberta Health Services says they’re putting the advisory in place after have to depressurize the line after a break in the water line.

All residents and businesses are advised to bring water to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to any consumption, which includes brushing teeth, cleaning food and making ice.

Water used for bathing or washing clothes does not need to be boiled. For handwashing, wash with soap and water, and use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer containing more than 60 per cent alcohol after drying your hands. Residents may instead choose to purchase bottled water for consumption for the duration of this advisory.

The advisory will remain in place until such time that water is restored, and officials with AHS Environmental Public Health will continue to monitor the situation, including sampling and testing of the drinking water to ensure it is safe for consumption.
