Winter is the most challenging season when it comes to Aquatera collecting garbage around Grande Prairie. In order to collect resident’s garbage carts, the collection trucks require at least a metre of clearance on all sides, and that includes things like trees, cars, snow piles, and recycling.
In order to make that process a little easier, Aquatera and the city are asking those residents who live in cul de sacs to avoid angle parking during the winter months, as it tends to interfere with garbage pickup. There is also a section in the city’s traffic bylaw that says a vehicle cannot be angle parked unless they are not blocking the flow of pedestrians or other traffic.
