County council supports funding for numerous projects during recent meeting

Grande Prairie County Council supported funding for several municipal projects during their October 30th meeting.

Notably for residents of both the City and County of Grande Prairie, the county directed their administration to enter a three-year funding agreement with the city for accessible transportation.

The agreement will begin in 2025 and end in 2027, with $160,000 per year to deliver accessible transit. Officials say the service will be open to residents with a disability who cannot use regular transit services and live within five kilometres of the city, within the Hamlet of Clairmont, and the Lakeview Seniors Housing Complex.

Council also approved the request for additional funding for the 98th Street Road construction and underground infrastructure project to Green Acre Ventures Limited in the amount of $3.3 Million. Officials estimate the total cost of the project is around $3.75 Million excluding GST.

Also during their meeting, council awarded the $158K Teepee Creek Firehall Project engineering contract to Beairsto and Associates Engineering Limited, as recommended by the project’s committee.
