Flu season is right around the corner and Alberta Health Services is ready to get immunizations underway in the province today. The shot is free for all Albertans over the age of six months, and is designed to protect against H3N2, H1N1, and influenza B.
Last year AHS saw one of its most successful vaccination campaigns ever with roughly 30 per cent of Albertans getting their flu shot. This year they are hoping to see that number increase to 40 per cent.
Roughly 1,900 people were hospitalized in the province during the 2014-2015 flu season and there were just over a hundred deaths.
