Shane Babitsch will plead guilty to manslaughter in the death of 26 year old Courtney Johnstone. The Grande Prairie man originally entered a not guilty plea on charges of first-degree murder, criminal negligence causing death, and indignity to human remains.
According to an agreed statement of facts, then 21 year old Babitsch hired the victim as an escort the night of January 27th, 2014. She agreed to carry out a rape fantasy, but during sex she was choked from behind until she was no longer breathing. Her body was then wrapped up in a sheet and thrown in a dumpster.
Her remains were found in the Aquatera landfill on February 15th. Babitsch will be sentenced next February.
