A gas well near Fox Creek is still leaking natural gas after a blowout Monday afternoon. Owner Encana Corporation says a second route to the site 18 kilometres from the town has been opened to give crews more room to cap the well head.
Small amounts of H2S have been discovered in the air since, but officials say it is not a health risk. The Alberta Energy Regulator is still on the site, and says so far wildlife and waterways have not been affected. More portable air monitors are in place.
