Be ready for road closures on Tour of Alberta race route

In order to create the safest and most exciting race for Tour of Alberta athletes and spectators on September 2, the city will be closing several roads. The main race route will be closed between 5 and 8 pm and will affect 68 Ave starting at 106 Street.

The course then turns onto Resources road, heading north to 100 Ave, which will be closed between 102 and 106 Street. The closure will continue on to 102 Street from 102 to 108 Ave, and 108 Ave from 102 street to Highway 43.

Highway 43 on the bypass will not be shut down for the race, but traffic flow will be dropped down to two lanes between the Centre 2000 and the Grande Prairie Regional College. The city will also be shutting down 100 Ave and 99 Ave downtown between Resources Road and 102 Street from noon until 8 pm.

All parking along the race route will be restricted between 2 and 9 pm. To help ease the commute for drivers, the city will be offering free transit service all day on race day.
