Wildfire danger level back up to high in Grande Prairie Forest Area

The wildfire danger level in the Grande Prairie Forest Area is back to high. Alberta Wildfire officials say a total of eight wildfires continue to burn in the region, all of which are reported as under control.

Included in those fires is the 19,435 hectare blaze known as the Bald Mountain fire, which is located 17 kilometres west of Highway 40, and the Sturgeon Lake Complex fires, which are a combined 9,000 hectares in size.

Since the turn of the year, 62 wildfires have been reported in the Grande Prairie Forest Area, burning more than 141,000 hectares.
