Fire advisory lifted as wildfire danger level drops to low in Grande Prairie Forest Area

A fire advisory for the Grande Prairie Forest Area has been dropped as the wildfire danger level has also dropped to low. Alberta Wildfire officials say despite the wet and cool weather in the region knocking the danger level down, firefighters remain on alert for any new fires or potential flare-ups of existing blazes.

As of August 24th, eight wildfires continue to burn in the Grande Prairie Forest Area, with all eight being listed as under control. Since the turn of the year, a total of 62 fires have burned more than 141,000 hectares of the forest area.
