County firefighters investigating trio of fires

The County of Grande Prairie Regional Fire Service is investigating three fires that happened in the area on Tuesday.

It says crews were dispatched to the first fire around 8 a.m. on the 3rd floor at International Paper. When they arrived on scene the crane motor fire was reported to be under control.

Firefighters were called to the second fire at a home just south of Highway 668 and Range Road 62 around 6 p.m. When the fire service arrived smoke could be seen coming out of the basement, and was investigated.

The third fire at the Weyerhaeuser mill was called in around 7 p.m., but because crews were still on the scene of the second fire, the Grande Prairie Fire Department was called in for mutual aid. County and city fire crews, along with the Wembley Fire Department, made quick work to control the fire and fully extinguished it.
