A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for the County of Grande Prairie near Beaverlodge, Hythe, Demmitt, Grande Prairie, and Wembley, as well as the MD of Greenview near Wapiti and Shuttler Flats.

Environment Canada says that as of 6:09 p.m. Saturday, meteorologists are tracking an area of severe thunderstorms capable of producing very strong wind gusts and up to nickel size hail. They are located approximately 25 kilometres south of Beaverlodge and are moving to the north at 20 kilometres per hour.

“Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.”
