Several homes damaged, crews respond to pair of fires in Muskoseepi park

Four homes in the Mission area were damaged after a pair of fires broke out in the Muskoseepi Park corridor Sunday afternoon. According to the City of Grande Prairie Fire Department, the entire department was called to help battle the blaze. Officials say, two helicopter crews that were on standby at Dunes Station were dispatched to support those on the ground by sharing information regarding the location of the fire.

“Crews quickly protected the properties suppressed the fire and prevented spread to the rest of the homes and neighboring residences,” a statement from the City of Grande Prairie Fire Department says.

There were no injuries reported, and several people have been displaced from their homes. The cause of the fires is under investigation by the Grande Prairie Fire Department Investigator.

“The fire department is urging all members of the public to follow all fire regulations and be fire safe with all their activities.”

This reminder comes with several days of hot and dry temperatures forecasted, residents are also being asked to continue to be diligent by calling 9-1-1 at the sight of smoke or fire.
