Wildfire danger level raised to very high in Grande Prairie Forest Area

Alberta Wildfire has upgraded the wildfire status for the Grande Prairie Forest Area to Very High. According to Alberta Wildfire officials, dry conditions and low moisture create are ripe for wildfires in the region, along with a risk of lightning in the forecast in the upcoming days.

Wildfire crews and ariel patrols continue to monitor the forest area for any new developing fires, or holdover flareups. The fire restriction put into effect at the end of April remains in effect. Under the restriction, all existing fire permits are suspended and there will be no new permits issued while the restriction is in place.
