Smoke from wildfires near High Level and the Northwest Territories is drifting into the Grande Prairie area. Anyone with health concerns should check the Alberta Health Services website or call 8-1-1.
The Wildfire Hazard in the GP Management Area is listed as high due to wind and warm temperatures, meaning fires can start and spread quickly. While some areas have gotten rain, it hasn’t been enough to lower the hazard.
Anyone working or spending time in forested areas is asked to be extremely cautious. There are almost 120 wildfires burning in northern Alberta, but none are in our region.
