Federal funding supports Peace Region celebrations

Three national days of celebration are coming up in the next few weeks: National Aboriginal Day is June 21, Canadian Multiculralism Day is on June 27, and of course Canada Day is July 1.

The federal government is offering up some funding to organizations that are planning and hosting festivities for each event. Several communities around the Peace Region including Rycroft, Peace River, Fairview, Valleyview, and the Smoky River Tourist Association are receiving some extra funds for their Canada Day celebrations.

The City of Grande Prairie and the Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation will also get a portion of the $37,075 earmarked for northwest Alberta from Celebrate Canada.
