Remembrance Day ceremonies planned across the Grande Prairie region

Several ceremonies and events will be held across the Grande Prairie region on Friday as residents in the city mark Remembrance Day and give thanks to generations of veterans who have served and sacrificed.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 54 will host an indoor ceremony at Bonnetts Energy Centre. Entry to that event will start at 9:45, with a moment of silence to follow at 11 a.m.. Meanwhile, ANAVETS will lead its annual ceremony at the Jubilee Cenotaph at 10:45 a.m.

In Wembley, residents who want to participate in the parade prior to the event at the Cenotaph are being asked to meet at the fire hall 10:30 a.m., before the ceremony begins at 10:45 a.m.

The Beaverlodge Legion Branch #121 will be holding an indoor service in the Community Centre, with the parade forming at 10:30 at the elementary school, before heading to the service for a 10:50 am. start. In Sexsmith, the Remembrance Day ceremony will take place at the Sexsmith Civic Centre, with doors opening to the public at 10 a.m.
