Grande Prairie to host sponsored Alberta Culture Days events

The City of Grande Prairie will have at least one provincially sponsored event to help celebrate Alberta Culture Days.

The Centre for Creative Arts Society of Grande Prairie joins celebrations across Alberta, including those hosted by High River Performing Arts Foundation, Arts on the Ave Edmonton Society, Calgary Chinese Cultural Centre Association and Enoch Cree Nation.

Minister of Culture Ron Orr says culture is a great connector across Alberta, and believes there will be something for everyone at events planned across the province.

“It helps us learn about and understand one another. It also helps us learn about and express ourselves. Whether taking in an art show, visiting a small-town museum, getting hands-on with craft making or attending other events, this year’s Alberta Culture Days truly offers something for everyone.”

The province says a total of $350,000 in grant funding was allotted to help fund 71 host celebration sites to host at least two days of activities and 28 pop-up celebration sites received funding for one-day events.

Alberta Culture Days runs throughout the month of September.
