Wildfire hazard increased to moderate

The wildfire hazard for the Grande Prairie area has been elevated to moderate.

If you have plans to do any burning you will have to have a permit, and will have to limit that burning to days when winds are blowing less than 12 kilometers an hour.

If you have done any burning recently you are asked to double check your pile for any remaining ash, un-burnt fuel, and hot spots as the fire could still be smoldering beneath the surface.

Fire piles should be drenched in water once the burning is complete to prevent the potential spread or dormant fires or heat.
