UPDATE: A collision analyst has determined the fatal collision on the Weyerhaeuser Road was not criminal in nature, and charges won’t be laid. The two vehicle collision occured at approximately 12:30 at kilometre 59 between a GMC Sierra Pickup and a logging truck. The 27 year old male driver of the pickup truck from Hines Creek was pronounced dead at the scene. The logging truck’s driver, a 54 year old Grande Prairie man, was taken to hospital by ambulance as a precaution. The road is expected to be reopened after 5:30 p.m.
Emergency services are currently responding to a fatal collision on the Weyerhaeuser Road.
The two vehicle collision occurred around 12:30 p.m. and Grande Prairie RCMP, Grovedale Fire Department and EMS are all on the scene.
No word yet on the identification of the deceased, or the extent of any other injuries.
The road will be closed at kilometre 59 while a collision analyst makes their way to the scene to investigate.
