The first merchant liquefied natural gas facility in Canada has had its grande opening in Elmworth.
The facility started commercial operations in May, 65 kilometres southwest of Grande Prairie.
Ferus Natural Gas Fuels says it can currently produce up to 50,000Â gallons of LNG a day, with room to expand up to 250,000Â for use in drilling rigs, pressure pumping services, and heavy-duty trucks.
CEO Dick Brown argues that having a small scale plant in the region means they can provide a close-by and reliable supply for customers.
