Grande Prairie woman heading to Mrs South Asia Canada competition

A Grande Prairie woman is competing in the Mrs South Asia Canada competition this August. Parita Vadodariya moved the area two years ago after coming to Canada from India in 2012. As a Physiotherapist at the QEII Hospital, she decided to step outside of her comfort zone.

Vadodariya says she was never a person to wear high heels or spend to much time on herself. With this competition, she says she has been given the opportunity to do that.

“I think I am trying to get myself back a little bit more. I was very talented and I used to do so many dance shows. After coming to Canada, everything just stopped.”

She says it has helped her get to a healthier weight, but it isn’t all about the body image.

“What kind of person you are and what kind of values you hold. It is kind of an Asian competition so they also include family values into it. You have to walk with your kids or husband on the ramp. It is all about that and that made me feel like I could do this.”

Formerly known as the Yummy Mummy competition, Ragaa Models of Toronto puts on the competition to portray the same message. The winners and competitors are meant to be role models for the younger generations with each contestant having a different profession, variety of skills, interests and attitudes. They say the delegates should personify “beauty, intelligence and everything that defines a fine young lady”.

The competition goes August 5th, 2017 in Brampton, Ontario. You can follow Vadodariya’s journey and vote for her on her Facebook page.
