Evacuation order expanded as wildfire continues to spread into Alberta

The evacuation order in the MD of Greenview has been expanded east to Gunderson Creek and Nose Creek.

However, the area is mostly unpopulated and only used by people camping and industry.

The Red Nose Creek settlement and Two Lakes campground were included in the initial evacuation.

Work camps may be affected, and ESRD is working on a plan to limit property damage.

The Red Deer Creek wildfire in B.C. has now crossed the Narraway River on our side of the border.

It’s increased to an estimated 3,000 hectares in Alberta and is expected to grow.

On the B.C. side, the blaze nearly quadrupled in size overnight, and has grown to a reported 33,400 hectares.
