Edmonton measles cases linked to Grande Prairie

Following two new cases of measles being discovered in Edmonton, Alberta Health Services is warning about potential exposure locations, two of which are in Grande Prairie.

Anyone who was at the Prairie Mall on May 17 between 3 and 8 pm, or the Army and Navy Club on May 20 between 8 and 11:30 pm may have been exposed to measles.

Symptoms include a fever of or higher than 38.3 C, a cough, runny nose, and a red blotchy rash that can appear three to seven days after the fever.

Measles is very contagious, so anyone who suspects they may have the disease is asked to stay home, and call Health Link Alberta before visiting a doctor’s office or clinic.
