Tarp auctions were held for seven stops of the World Professional Chuckwagon Tour Tuesday night, with sales down by more than $240,000. The Battle of the North in Dawson Creek brought in $141,500, which is $51,000 less than in 2015. The high bid went to John Walters, as Arrow Insurance Agency sponsored him for $6,500.
Grande Prairie’s Kelly Sutherland brought in $26,000 on the night, all from Friends of the King. Rick Fraser earned $20,500, while Kirk Sutherland took in $18,500.
The Grande Prairie Stompede canvas auction goes Thursday at the Great Northern Casino, starting at 7 p.m. This year’s Pro Tour starts at the Stompede May 25th to 29th.
