Hearing underway for Yellow Cabs expansion to Fort St. John

A public hearing is underway in Fort St. John as Grande Prairie-based Yellow Cabs looks to expand to the B.C. city. The company wants to add 21 taxis to the city, including one accessible vehicle.

The Passenger Transportation Board needs to consider whether there is a need for the service, whether Yellow Cabs can provide it, and if it makes economic sense in the industry. They first applied to expand in May 2015, but were met with opposition from the company that own both taxi services in town.

The hearing is expected to run through Wednesday and is open to the public.
