If you have any brush, deadfall or branches you want to get rid of, the county has a pair of upcoming events that may help them in the growing fight against the threat of wildfires in the region.
The two free FireSmart™ Wood Chipping events is open to anyone but is there to help reduce fire-prone materials, such as trees, branches, brush, and deadfall, on private properties, particularly in high-risk subdivisions, which helps overall community protection.
“Wildfires pose a serious threat to properties in forested and grassy subdivisions,” says County Fire Prevention Officer Kurt Schleiter.
“These events are a practical way for residents to get involved in reducing wildfire risks while learning about the FireSmart principles that protect their homes and communities.”
Anything cut down, must be able to fit into a chipper approximately 12 inches in diameter, but anyone looking to participate can bring branches, brush, and deadfall for free on-site chipping.
