Trial for Falher double homicide starts Monday

Nearly five years after their deaths, Edward John Chomiak will finally be tried for the first degree murders of his estranged wife and her daughter. On December 16th, 2010, police responded to a 9-1-1 hang up call at a home near Falher and found the bodies of 45 year old Melody Perry and 20 year old Jerica Bouchard.

Chomiak was arrested later that day but the process through the courts has been a lengthy one. The 54 year old Nampa resident was last supposed to go to trial in April of 2015, but his lawyer asked for another adjournment for a psychiatric evaluation.

He also changed to a judge and jury trial which is expected to run today through Friday in Peace River.
