UPDATE: The crash scene was cleared as of 7:30 p.m. Friday night. Grande Prairie RCMP says its preliminary investigation has found that the pickup truck was heading north on Highway 2 and was turning west onto Highway 672 when it collided with the motorcycle heading southbound on Highway 2.
The 63-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The pickup truck was not physically injured.
An investigation involving an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist continues.
One person has died following a collision on Highway 2 north of Grande Prairie. Police say the crash between a motorcycle and pickup truck happened shortly before 2 p.m. Friday on Highway 2 at Emerson Trail.
Highway 672 west and eastbound at Highway 2 is blocked. Traffic is being re-routed at Highway 2 and Township Road 734.
Mounties say the deceased is the motorcycle rider. An investigation into the cause of the collision remains ongoing.
