Williams thankful for support of Peace River constituents

Incumbent candidate Dan Williams says he is honoured and grateful for the support of Peace River constituents who have seemingly decided to send him back to Edmonton. With 32 of 37 polls reporting, Global News has projected the United Conservative Party candidate to win the Peace River riding.

“This is a re-enforcement and vindication for all the United Conservatives have done in the past four years, despite the ups and downs, they know we are heading in the right direction as a province,” Williams says.

Williams was first elected MLA in the 2019 provincial election. He says throughout his re-election campaign, one of the biggest priorities he heard from constituents was the economy, especially with the current inflation and affordability crisis being seen across the province.

“They want to see public safety be dealt with, they want to see mental health and addictions be made a priority, and, of course, they want to see that our resource industry is defended.”

Williams says once the election has wrapped up his first order of business will be to clean up his campaign signs along with thanking his volunteers, followed by spending some time with his family before getting back to work.

“As the Deputy Whip, I’m going to be calling a caucus meeting to meet with our newly elected, re-elected Conservative government, I believe,” Williams says. “Getting to the peoples’ business right away, putting their priorities first.”

With 32 of 37 polls reporting, the NDP’s Liana Paiva received 19 per cent of the vote, independent candidate Conrad Nunweiler 2.5 per cent, and Independence Party of Alberta candidate Sharon Noullett 1.5 per cent.
