Trials scheduled for woman accused in Grande Prairie man’s death

The Red Deer woman accused in the 2021 death of a Grande Prairie man now has two trial dates.

32-year-old Brianna Ruf-Dietz will be tried for threat to cause death or bodily harm in Red Deer on November 17, 2022. She also has a trial for a charge of first or second-degree murder set for June 12 – 23, 2023.

The body of 26-year-old Tyler Johnson was found inside a burned-down house near Maskwacis on March 8, 2021. At the time, he had been considered a missing person since January 12th of that year, with police saying his disappearance was considered out of character.

Ruf-Dietz was arrested on October 12, 2021 in Edmonton, following an investigation by Alberta RCMP Major Crimes.
