Fire advisory lifted in Grande Prairie Forest Area

The fire advisory has been lifted in the Grande Prairie Forest Area, with the wildfire danger level also dropping to moderate. Wildfire officials say the cooler temperatures and rain that has fallen in the region over the last few days was enough to make conditions less favourable for fires, and allowed them to drop the advisory.

There are currently two active wildfire in the Grande Prairie Forest Area, one is listed as under control with the other listed as being turned over to the responsible party for extinguishment. Since the start of wildfire season on March 1st, 34 wildfires have burned nearly 95 hectares in the Grande Prairie Forest Area.
