Grande Prairie adds 112 COVID-19 cases over weekend

The number of active COVID-19 cases in the City of Grande Prairie increased by more than half over the weekend. From January 7th to 9th, Alberta Health Services recorded 112 new cases and 13 recoveries, bringing the active case total to 283.

The County of Grande Prairie has moved back above the 100 active case mark. The addition of 23 new cases and three recoveries leaves the region with 118 active cases.

In the City of Grande Prairie, 71 per cent of the population 12 years old and up is considered to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, while 63.8 per cent of those five and older have both shots.

In the central and east portions of the County of Grande Prairie, 69.9 per cent of those 12 and up are double vaccinated, with 61.9 per cent of those five and up. In the west part of the county, the vaccination rate drops to 64.9 per cent for those 12 and older and 57.8 of those five and older.

Lakeview Seniors Housing in Clairmont is the only outbreak location currently listed in the region.
