Another extreme cold warning issued for Grande Prairie area

Extreme cold wind chill values are expected to continue until next weekend in the Grande Prairie area. Environment Canada has issued yet another extreme cold warning for the Grande Prairie – Beaverlodge – Valleyview region as wind chill values of between minus 40 and minus 50 continue.

“Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.”

People in the area are reminded to cover up to prevent frostbite and to keep emergency supplies in their vehicle.

In Grande Prairie, the forecast is calling for a high of minus 26 degrees Monday with a wind chill of near minus 41. Five to 10 centimetres of snow is also expected.
