Regional skills competition opens in Fairview

The 11th annual North West Regional Skills Canada Competition kicks off today in Fairview. High school students from across the Peace Region will be competing in areas like welding, baking, carpentry, and graphic design.

Skills Canada argues that by taking these skills outside of a classroom setting, youth can better see the level they’re at and where their interests can take them.

The opening ceremonies are tonight, with competition running all day Friday. The regional winners will advance to provincials in May.
