A trip to the capital city last week gave Grande Prairie’s Mayor and Councillors an opportunity to pitch the city to industry and agencies that exist in more populated parts of the province.
Mayor Bill Given says for those living and working in Edmonton or Calgary, it’s easy to forget about the potential that exists in Grande Prairie.
“They may think that we’re similar to some other communities in the province, they may think that we’re a single horse town. Really it was an opportunity to show that we have a very diversified economy, that there’s lots of opportunity for investment, and that they should be considering Grande Prairie when they’re making business decisions.”
Attendees included the University of Alberta, the Alberta Construction Association, the Edmonton Airport Authority, and the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce.
