A case of Mad Cow disease has been discovered in Alberta for the first time since 2011.
The Canadian Food Inspection Agency confirmed this morning that they found the case of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy, but says that no part of the cow has reached human or animal food systems.
The agency will be looking into the history of the animal, what is was being fed during the first year of it’s life, and how it came to be infected.
BSE is a fatal neurological disease that is believed to be spread when cattle eat protein that has come from the brains and spines of other infected sheep or cattle.
