Library renovations complete and under budget

A project to renovate the last available space at the Grande Prairie Public Library has reportedly come in a couple thousand dollars under budget.

The Library Board had been planning to have a 3000 square foot storage space turned into a space for more programming since 2012.

Inflated construction costs pushed the price tag up to $544,000 by the time work actually did get started last March.

The space, which had been set aside when the Montrose Cultural Centre was first built, was the final piece of the library to be completed.

The exact cost of how much the renovations cost, and how much they came in under budget will be confirmed at the board’s next meeting.
