Sexsmith & Area Christmas Hamper Program has received a second large donation from NTL Pipelines. The most recent donation of $15,000 has surpassed the previous $10,000 donation made by the company in October and is now the largest single donation in the history of the program.
Sexsmith Family and Community Support Services Director Naomi Robinson says she’s so grateful for NTL’s contribution.
“It’s pretty overwhelming; it’s a pretty amazing donation. Christmas is the season to think of others and this statement is so very true for NTL. Sexsmith and Area Foodbank and Christmas Hampers are extremely honoured and grateful for their generosity.”
The program lends an extra hand during the holiday season for residents in Sexsmith, Clairmont, Teepee Creek, La Glace, Bezanson and other rural areas.
Robinson says this money will come in handy as they work towards making some changes to the foodbank.
“We’re in the process of doing a little bit of revamping with our foodbank so this kind of donation will definitely help us with that too… We’re hoping to turn our foodbank into its own entity and grow it bigger.”
As the holiday season continues, Robinson says people can also help them out by donating through the reverse Santa Parade in Sexsmith set for December 7th.
They will be going door to door collecting non-perishable food items and toys. Donations can also be dropped off at the Sexsmith Town office.
