Local business making Dragons’ Den debut

It is a different kind of fire and smoke than he is used to, but the CEO of Ole Smokes Coffee and Roastery says he feels confident after going toe to toe with dragons.

Tim Sanford’s appearance on CBC’s Dragons’ Den will first air online Wednesday. He says it was the thrill of a lifetime both personally and professionally when he got his chance to discuss his business with some of the country’s most successful entrepreneurs.

“It was a fun experience. You know, the Dragons can be kind of harsh when you talk to them, but, then again, everybody has different perspectives.”

“I mean, the Dragons have their ideas, and I have my ideas, and they always meet and sometimes they meet in the middle,” he adds.

While Sanford obviously knows the result of his segment, he had to sign a non-disclosure agreement with the show to keep tight-lipped about the outcome. Regardless of how his appearance went, he thinks it was a job well done.

“My main purpose there was mainly to go for advertising, and if I got a deal great, if I didn’t, I wasn’t too concerned. It was them interested in me, so it was just me selling myself.”

You can watch the full segment on the Dragons’ Den website on October 30th. Ole Smokes Coffee and Roastery opened in Grande Prairie in 2017.
