Professional bull riding event expected to draw crowds to Drysdale Centre

A new sport is coming to Evergreen Park this weekend. For the first time in history, a professional bull riding event will be taking place in the area on October 5th.

Evergreen Park Marketing and Sponsorship Manager Don Moon says it will be held in the newly renovated Drysdale Centre.

“As far as attendance I think they’re pretty close to being sold out so it will be one of the larger events ever held in the Drysdale Centre and we’re really looking forward to it.”

While bull riding has been done at Evergreen Park during the Grande Prairie Stompede, this will be the first event featuring the sport on its own.

The BuckWild PBR Canadian Touring Pro Division has competitions in five countries and has been going on in Canada since 1996. The Grande Prairie stop will be one of the last four Canadian stops on the tour before the finals in November.

Moon hopes this will be the first of many bull riding competitions at the park.

“It’s just another event out at the park that gets people out to our complex. We have over 1,200 acres here, we have almost 30 buildings, we put on close to 600 different events a year. We’re really looking forward to hosting another one and this one is at the high-quality end of the spectrum as far as events at the park.”

The competition starts at 7 p.m.
