Extreme cold weather warning issued due to wind and freezing temperatures

There is an extreme cold weather warning in effect for the Grande Prairie area this morning.

Light wind and sub-zero temperatures could create wind chill temperatures as cold as -40.

Environment Canada is advising anyone who will be out and about this morning to dress warmly, making sure to cover your face and hands as well.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill are low enough to increase the risk of frost bite and hypothermia.
