Council Committee of the Whole is meeting today to re-hash their four year capital budget.
Council initially went through budget deliberations back in November, but did not pass the capital budget when it came before them in December, as some Councillors were concerned that the proposed tax increases would be to great for Grande Prairie residents to swallow.
Some of the more contentious items in the proposed budget include renovations to the Leisure Centre and upgrades to the South Bear Creek Diamonds.
Following today’s committee meeting, several Councilors are hoping to have a modified operational budget for 2015 through to 2015 that they can approve, and won’t hit rate payers with hefty tax increases over the course of the next four years.
