ASIRT looking for witnesses to fatal police shooting

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team is looking to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the events leading up to a fatal police shooting in Grande Prairie early Friday morning.

At approximately 1:15 a.m., RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Mac’s Convenience Store in Patterson Mall.

The suspect had a realistic looking replica gun, and after a confrontation, the 19 year old male was shot by police.

He suffered at least one gunshot wound and later passed away in hospital.

ASIRT wants to speak to the occupants of an SUV that drove into the strip mall’s parking lot at the time.

It’s believed they may have witnessed events related to the incident.
