Creative writing courses launching in Beaverlodge

Have you ever wanted to write a comic book or a memoir? If so, a new set of courses in Beaverlodge could be for you.

A trio of on-going creative writing seminars are set to begin by the end of September, and Organizer Jen England says she hopes to help people bring out the best in themselves.

“For someone who is looking for something to do outside the norm, feeling like they’re in a rut or something like that and want to start something new. There is no start-up cost to this, you can even do this on your phone.”

Running throughout the fall and into the winter, the courses will cover everything from short stories and essays, to scripts and screenplays. England says the classrooms will be very much so open concept, so people can freely share their ideas and play off each other’s creative energy.

“I’m hoping to allow everyone to share the things that stand out for them with the others in the class. That way, we get to find out first hand from somebody’s perspective about maybe a genre we didn’t consider before like comic books, or fanzines which is exciting stuff to do.”

The courses will be held at the Beaverlodge Arts and Culture Centre starting September 25th, 2019.
