The Grande Prairie Pirates travelled to Calgary in search of gold, and they were not disappointed.
The Pirates pillaged the Irma Tigers in their best of 5 series to clinch the Provincial Men’s Senior A Championship 3 games to 1.
The teams opened the series in a pair of quick games, with Pirates earning a 4 inning mercy in game one before the Tigers turned the tables and thumped the eventual champs in 2 innings in game two.
The Pirates took game three on the second day of the series, and thanks to an extra-innings victory in game four, took home the title in style.
The team will now be vying for a national championship, which takes place right here in Grande Prairie August 28th to September 1st.
