All staff and students are safe following hold and secure at two elementary schools in Wembley. On Monday morning, Peace Wapiti Public School officials say doors were locked at both Wembley Elementary and Helen E. Taylor School while police responded to a situation in the area.

Students taking part in a class field trip in town were taken to the arena until the situation was over. Doors were unlocked again as of 10:15 a.m. and police say the area is now safe.

Hold and Secures are put into effect when something takes place outside of the school like an animal sighting or police activity. Building doors are locked and students continue on with their day inside.
