A Grande Prairie man has been sentenced after the hit and run death of an Edmonton man in the city last October. On May 14th, 2019, Terris Truax was sentenced to just under five and a half years in jail, less time served, for failure to stop at the scene of an accident causing death.

On October 29th, 2018, 26-year-old Mahak Sandhu died in hospital after his Volkswagen was hit by a white Ford F-350 at the intersection of 100 Street and 68 Avenue.

Thirty-seven-year-old Truax was originally charged with dangerous driving causing death, failure to remain at the scene of an accident causing death, flight from a police officer, and two counts of possession of stolen property.

He also received a 10-year driving ban on the dangerous driving charge. All others were withdrawn.
